Coloring Designer Series Paper Is So Much Fun!!

Coloring Designer Series Paper with Stampin’ Blends

Hello! Have you ever colored Designer Series Paper? Coloring Designer Series Paper is a great option when you want to add color and give your card a more personal touch. The Springtime Foils Specialty DSP is gorgeous on its’ own but when colored with Stampin’ Blends it has a real WOW factor. Coloring for adults has become all the rage. “It relieves stress, anxiety, and negative thoughts. It also promotes positivity, mindfulness, focus and creativity (Color It by Martina Trejo)”. Don’t let the word ‘creativity’ scare you. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of coloring.

Coloring Tips:

I colored the images with the light color first (using predominately the brush tip), then outlined around all the foil lines (using the fine tip), then went back to the light shade (brush tip) to blend the colors together. If you would like to create some highlights or lighten up an area, use the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blend. (Wipe the tip off on a paper towel before switching color).. Use the light Daffodil Delight to color in the background. This DSP has a glossy finish so when you are coloring, the ink moves around. I love how the marker coloring takes on a watercolor effect. I think you will enjoy coloring designer series paper. Give it a try!

 The Color Palette

 Recipe: Paper. Images. Embellishments.

Paper: Bermuda Bay & Basic Black card stock

Images: Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper & Lovely Wishes stamp set & VersaMark Ink Pad & White Embossing Powder & Stampin’ Blends (light and dark Bermuda Bay, light and dark Old Olive, light Daffodil Delight & Color Lifter)

Embellishments: Tutti-Frutti Washi Tape (Daffodil Delight) & Old Olive 3/8” Mini Chevron Ribbon & Banner Triple Punch

Extras: Stampin’ Trimmer, Clear Block I, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, Dimensionals & SNAIL

 The Project:

Step 1:

Cut your pieces.

  • Card Base: Cut the Bermuda Bay card stock to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and score at 4 ¼”.
  • Banner: Cut the Basic Black card stock to 4” x 7/8”. Use the Banner Triple Punch to flag one end of the Basic Black piece.
  • DSP: Cut a piece of Springtime Foils DSP to 4” x 4”.
  • Ribbon: Cut the Old Olive ribbon to 2” then cut with scissors to flag the end.
  • Washi Tape: Cut Daffodil Delight washi tape to 1 ½”.

Step 2:

Stamp your images.

  • Stamp the sentiment with VersaMark on the 4” x 7/8” Basic Black card stock.
  • Sprinkle with White Embossing Powder and use heat tool to melt embossing powder. Tip: Swipe the card stock with the Embossing Buddy to remove static from the card stock before stamping to prevent embossing powder from sticking in unwanted places on your card stock.

Step 3:

Color images.

  • Using the Stampin’ Blends color the images on the DSP.

Step 4:

Putting it all together.

  • Adhere the DSP to the Bermuda Bay card base.
  • Wrap the washi tape around the straight end of the banner leaving a small sliver of black showing.
  • Adhere the ribbon to the back of the Basic Black banner with a ½” or so sticking out from the left end.
  • Use Dimensionals to adhere the banner to the bottom of the card base.
