Graduation Explosion Box

Hello Paper Crafters!! I have a really cool project for you today! It’s a Graduation Explosion Box that I made for my niece, Madison McDonough. Madison graduated from Texas State University on May 17, 2019. She earned a BS in Elementary Education from the College of Education and wants to teach Kindergarten. She is such a beautiful person inside and out. I wish her the very best in this next chapter of her life. I know she will make an excellent teacher. So proud of her!!

This Graduation Explosion Box was so much fun to create. When you have a project like this you will be diving into your stash that you have been collecting for years. Maybe even 20 years!! My up-line, Jackie, always lets me use her graduation stamp sets for my graduation projects. So I have combined new products with retired products to create this amazing 3-D card. I hope you are inspired to create one for someone special in your life. (I also do custom orders. Click the contact tab.)

  • Panel 1: Congratulations

    • Stamp sentiment (from Bravo) in Bravo Burgundy ink on Whisper White CS. Use the Stitched Rectangle #4 to cut out the sentiment. You will need to manipulate this cut. The rectangle is not long enough. When running it through the Big Shot, don’t cut all the way to the end. Carefully line up the die on the end that hasn’t been cut and run through the Big Shot again, just far enough to cut the end.
    • Cut the gold foil rectangle 4 7/8” x 2 ½”.
    • Glue the pieces in place with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
    • Place a Gold Pearl in the center of the 1st “o”.

    • Cut the gold foil square 2 3/8” x 2 3/8”.
    • Use the two smallest stars from the Star Framelits to cut out the stars.
    • Glue the pieces in place with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Adhere the stars with Dimensionals.
    • Place a Gold Pearl on either side of the “to”.

Graduation Explosion Box

  • Panel 3: Envelope Left

    • Stamp sentiment (from Pure Gumption) onto the flap of the envelope.
    • Take a piece of Bravo Burgundy CS 4 5/8” x 3 ½” and emboss with the Sparkle TIEF.
    • Glue the pieces in place with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
    • Place a Gold Pearl on either side of the first line.

Graduation Explosion Box

  • Panel 4: Envelope Right

    • Stamp sentiment (from Bravo) onto the flap of the envelope.
    • Take a piece of Bravo Burgundy CS 4 5/8” x 3 ½” and emboss with the Sparkle TIEF.
    • Glue the pieces in place with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
    • Place a Gold Pearl on the exclamation point.

Graduation Explosion Box

  • Panel 5: Center

    • Stamp the image of the girl dancing (from Beautiful You) in Black Stazon ink on Whisper White CS. Cut the square 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”. Stamp the sentiment (from Beautiful You) in Stazon ink in the lower right corner
    • Add sleeves & shoes to the image with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker. Color the dress with the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker. When that has dried color it again to get a deeper color. Use a Blender Pen with the Bravo Burgundy ink to color the edge (on the right) of the dress.
    • Cut the gold glimmer paper 3 ½” x 3 ½”.
    • Make a graduation cap by cutting a ¾” x ¾” square of Basic Black CS. Take a few strands of embroidery thread and tie together. Poke a hole in the center of the cap and thread the embroidery thread through it. Use a Dimensional to adhere to the head of the image.
    • Glue the pieces in place with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
